Our priorities

The Clarence-Rockland CTC prevention board members have been working, since March 2007, on developing a community profile and putting into place prevention programmes and activities. The principal work tool for this work is the CTC Youth Survey (2007) which was administered in March 2007.

The survey analysis work group, supported by the CTC prevention board members, established the following priority risk factors for the city of Clarence-Rockland:

  • parental attitudes favouring drug use (family domain);
  • rewards for antisocial involvement (peer domain);
  • laws and norms favourable to drug use (community domain).

Lions Quest - Skills for Adolescence  is a proven prevention progamme and was chosen for a first implementation in our community in September 2008 and is offered to grade 7 students in three schools in Clarence-Rockland: Carrefour Jeunesse, Pavillon de l'Escale and Rockland Public School.
