On June 12, 2009, CTC hosted 300 grade 7 students from four of our local schools (PCPS, St. Jude, ESCRH, Le Sommet). The kids arrived in their yellow CTC t-shirts, looking like rays of sunshine! We heard from many inspirational speakers, including some of our local VIPs, who spoke about their journeys in life. It was a real success and the kids left with a clear message that we are proud of their accomplishments; we support them and we care about their future. Mayor Jeanne Charlebois and Mayor Robert Kirby also spoke to the kids, encouraging them on their positive journey in life.

The Hawkesbury CTC youth group went to Ottawa on Saturday, June 27 to spread kindness and be of service to others. We visited some homeless people who were having a difficult time, and we gave out 25 $2 Tim Hortons' gift cards. Afterwards, we went to the Ottawa Mission and helped prepare sandwiches for supper. We truly enjoyed this experience, and it made us realize that our most vulnerable citizens, be it because of addiction, mental illness or the tough economic situation, are kind and grateful for any assistance they receive, most especially the gift of conversation.
